Record Rainfall in Rajasthan Paralyzes Life, Schools Closed in Multiple Districts

Within the last 24 hours, Jaipur has experienced an unprecedented 118 mm of rainfall, leading to the closure of schools in Bharatpur, Karauli, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur. Flooding in low-lying areas has virtually confined residents to their homes.

Heavy rain began around 5 am on Monday and intermittent showers have continued since Sunday afternoon. The Meteorological Centre Jaipur forecasts that the monsoon will remain active for several more days, prompting officials to prioritize rescue and disaster management efforts. At least 19 people have died in rain-related incidents. Rajasthan has seen 40% more rainfall than normal this season, with western areas experiencing a 56% increase.
