The victims were among 12 people, including the driver, traveling to Nawanshahr in Punjab on Sunday morning to attend a family wedding. While crossing the Jaijon ravine, their vehicle was swept away, resulting in the deaths of nine people from two families. One person was rescued, and two remain missing.

The eight bodies were cremated near Bhabour Sahib on the banks of the Satluj river. All the deceased were residents of Dehlan Lower and Bhatoli in Una. Police and rescue teams are still searching for the two missing individuals.
