Maharashtra Honours Film Icons with Lifetime Achievement Awards

Veteran actor Asha Parekh and actor Shivaji Satam are set to receive lifetime achievement awards from the Maharashtra government. Director N Chandra and writer-director Digpal Lanjekar will also be recognized for their contributions. Awards include cash prizes, citations, and mementos, with an event featuring prominent state officials.

Veteran actor Asha Parekh, famous for her performances in Hindi films like 'Kati Patang', 'Teesri Manzil', and 'Caravan', will be honored with the 'Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award' by the Maharashtra government, an official announced.

Actor Shivaji Satam, renowned for his role as ACP Pradyuman on the TV series 'CID', is also selected for the state government's 'Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award'. The awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of August 21 at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, will attend the event.

Director N Chandra, noted for his films 'Tezaab' and 'Ankush', will be given the 'Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award', while writer-director Digpal Lanjekar will be honored with the 'Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award'. Lanjekar has directed several movies on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including 'Pawankhind' and 'Fatteshikast'.

The awards for Parekh and Satam include a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh each, along with citations and mementos. N Chandra and Lanjekar will receive Rs 6 lakh, a citation, and a memento each. 'We are thrilled to honor these actors and film personalities for their remarkable contribution to enriching the art and culture of not just Maharashtra, but the entire country,' said state Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
