On the eve of the 78th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu called for strengthened affirmative action to include marginalized communities while urging the rejection of societal hierarchies.
President Murmu lauded various government initiatives, such as PM-SURAJ and NAMASTE, aimed at uplifting marginalized groups. She stressed the importance of gender and climate justice, noting significant budget increases for women's welfare that have led to higher female labor participation and a better sex ratio at birth.
The President welcomed the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, praising the electoral process and recognizing the efforts of farmers and the advancements in infrastructure, semiconductors, and AI. Reflecting on the human tragedy of partition, she urged solidarity with affected families as the nation celebrates Independence Day.
