Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik described Independence Day as a potent symbol of national unity and pride on Thursday, offering a moment to reflect on India’s remarkable journey.

Speaking at the I-Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan, the governor noted that this celebration inspires responsibility and patriotism in the youth, urging them to contribute positively to the nation’s progress, according to a communique from Raj Bhavan.

Parnaik paid tribute to India's brave sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom, highlighting that Independence marks the birth of the world’s largest democracy. Recalling the values of the nation’s founding fathers and contributions of freedom fighters from Arunachal Pradesh, including Matmur Jamoh and Moje Riba, he emphasized collective effort, determination, and the commitment needed to attain the nation’s vision.

The governor underscored the importance of industrial growth, digital innovation, sustainable development, and creating a favourable environment for entrepreneurship. In addition, the governor and the state's first lady, Anagha Parnaik, distributed sweets to school children. The event witnessed the participation of Raj Bhavan's officers and staff, department officials, students, and teachers from various schools, the communique added.
