Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram on Friday fulfilled a significant vow by presenting a giant 20.5-foot machete to the Maranadu Karuppar Temple in Sivaganga district, his native region. This solemn act was in gratitude for his impressive margin of victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

The machete, known locally as 'Aruval,' is approximately one foot wide and was an offering to the deity worshipped at the shrine. Karti Chidambaram had pledged to make the donation based on his victory tally of 205,664 votes.

Posting on the social media platform 'X,' Karti remarked, "Offered a 20.5 ft Aruval to the Maranadu Karuppar Temple in lieu of my 205664 margin of victory in the LS election from Sivaganga." Making such offerings to temples is a widespread cultural practice to honor solemn promises.
