In the wake of the vandalism at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury labeled the act as an insidious attempt to shroud the truth. The incident has cast a shadow over the recent rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at the facility.
On Thursday, a mob dismantled the emergency department, nursing unit, and medicine store, while also damaging CCTV cameras, amidst a protest involving a substantial number of medics and citizens. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has pointed fingers at opposition parties CPI(M) and BJP, accusing them of fueling the turmoil to obfuscate the harrowing crime.
Yechury, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), lambasted the vandalism, describing it as a disgraceful effort to stifle the pursuit of justice. Echoing his sentiments, CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya shared protest images, highlighting the growing demands for genuine justice in the horrifying case.
