Syro-Malabar Church Hosts Major Archiepiscopal Assembly

The Syro-Malabar Church is set to convene the Major Archiepiscopal Assembly, bringing together bishops, vicars, clergy representatives, and laymen at Pala, church authorities announced on Sunday.

Scheduled from August 22 to 25 at the Alphonsian Pastoral Institute, the assembly will feature 348 members, including 50 bishops and 34 vicar generals, according to assembly convenor Bishop Mar Pauly Kannookadan and Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt.

The event will tackle three main topics: renewal of faith formation, lay participation in evangelization, and empowering the Syro-Malabar community, aligning with the assembly's theme of 'Mission and Response of the Syro-Malabar in Response to the Needs of the Time.'
