BIS Hackathon to Foster Knowledge of Indian Standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched a hackathon to create a platform promoting awareness of Indian standards via interactive activities and games. Open to students from institutions with BIS MoUs, the initiative aims to engage over 500,000 participants and enhance public understanding of quality standards.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announced on Tuesday the launch of a new hackathon aimed at developing an online platform to raise awareness about Indian standards through interactive activities and games.

Targeted at students from institutions with existing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with BIS, the competition invites participants to access guidelines and submit their entries via the official hackathon portal by August 23.

According to BIS, the initiative's primary objective is to spark interest and improve knowledge of Indian Standards among the general public and stakeholders. 'The awareness of quality and standards is very important in the infrastructural and social development of the country,' BIS stated.

The upcoming platform will feature a variety of BIS-related activities, including both time-bound and ongoing games, and will serve as a venue for special events like World Standards Day and World Consumer Rights Day, with potential reward systems. BIS aims to engage over 500,000 participants through these activities and has previously conducted online quiz competitions on similar topics.

This hackathon represents a continuation of BIS' broader mission to enhance public understanding and awareness of quality standards across India.
