Kerala Initiates Free Onam Kits and New Teaching Posts

The Kerala government will distribute approximately six lakh free Onam provision kits to marginalized families and welfare institution inmates. The kits, comprising 13 essential items, will be given to those holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards. Additionally, the government has sanctioned 1,368 new teaching posts in state-run and aided schools.

The Kerala government has announced plans to distribute approximately six lakh free Onam provision kits to marginalized families and welfare institution inmates. These kits, which include 13 essential items, aim to support those holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards ahead of the Onam festival.

The decision, made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, also involves the allocation of Rs 34.29 crore to the State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) to facilitate the distribution through ration shops.

In another significant decision, the cabinet sanctioned 1,368 additional teaching posts in state-run and government-aided schools, based on staff fixation for the 2023-2024 academic year. This includes 957 additional posts in 513 government schools and 1,368 new posts in 699 aided schools.
