A senior Trinamool Congress leader on Friday criticized the West Bengal film industry for remaining silent on a movie allegedly depicting the state negatively, despite their association with political power by sharing stages with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh addressed the issue of 'The Diary of West Bengal,' a Hindi film that premiered recently. Without directly naming the film, Ghosh shared its poster online along with his statement condemning the silence of the Tollygunge industry.
The Calcutta High Court, a day earlier, had refrained from any interim orders to block the movie's release, emphasizing the importance of healthy criticism in a democratic society. Ghosh questioned why those in the film industry who benefit from their political connections were not speaking against the film. He called for active protests from the Bengali film industry, particularly from those associated with TMC.
