Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump condemned the growing acceptance of transgender Americans during an appearance at the annual Moms for Liberty event. The nonprofit has led efforts to remove mentions of LGBTQ+ identity and structural racism from K-12 classrooms.
Trump argued that transgender women shouldn't participate in women's sports and advocated for restricting access to gender-affirming healthcare. Despite sticking to his familiar talking points, including attacks on President Joe Biden and immigration issues, Trump rallied his conservative supporters during the hourlong “fireside chat” in Washington.
The former president criticized the Department of Education, calling for its termination and urging more parental control in schools. He also disparaged racial equity programs and transgender accommodations in education, resonating with Moms for Liberty's predominantly conservative membership.
