Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is currently in judicial custody, will be provided with a television in his cell at Ballari prison, officials confirmed on Saturday. This request was made by Darshan to stay updated on case developments and broader news.
The Bengaluru police have filed a detailed 3,991-page chargesheet against 17 individuals, including Darshan, in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy. The actor was transferred from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari after a controversial photograph of him with other inmates went viral.
According to police, the murder was triggered by obscene messages sent by the victim to Darshan's friend, Pavithra Gowda. The elaborate scheme involving Darshan's associates led to Renukaswamy's death from shock and hemorrhage caused by multiple injuries.
