King Charles III attended a church service near the royal Balmoral estate in Scotland on Sunday to honor the memory of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the second anniversary of her death.

Accompanied by his wife Camilla, Charles has been spending the summer in the Scottish Highlands, where the late monarch passed away at age 96 on September 8, 2022. The couple was seen arriving for the Sunday morning service at Crathie Kirk, a small granite church significant to the royal family, as Queen Victoria laid its foundation stone and Queen Elizabeth was a regular attendee.

Descending the throne two years ago on the day of Elizabeth's passing during her Platinum Jubilee year, Charles' second year as sovereign has been marked by personal health challenges. Both he and his daughter-in-law Kate, the Princess of Wales, were diagnosed with unspecified cancer types earlier this year. Nevertheless, Charles has resumed many public duties, including a jovial appearance at the Braemar Gathering Highland Games on Saturday.
