Dehradun’s Iconic Clock Tower Ticks Again After Mysterious Vandalism

The iconic clock tower of Dehradun resumed its ticking on Wednesday after being lifeless for a couple of days.

SHO Chandrabhan Singh from Kotwali police station reported that wires for three of the six Swiss clocks had been cut off. He assured that all components, including batteries, inverters, and amplifiers, were found intact and working again after reconnections.

Singh denied any theft claims, adding that the act seemed like mischief by someone with key access. Circle Officer Niraj Semwal corroborated, noting no signs of forced entry, with cut cables left at the scene. Police launched an investigation following a complaint by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation. The CCTV footage is under review to identify the culprits.
