Karnataka Minister Calls for Increased Afforestation to Protect Nature

Karnataka Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the responsibility of protecting nature and advocated for increased afforestation due to inadequate forest cover. During National Forest Martyrs' Day observance, he praised the growing populations of elephants and tigers and called for modern technology to prevent animal-human conflict. Compensation for forest martyrs' families has been increased.

Karnataka Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday emphasized the collective responsibility of protecting nature and called for increased afforestation, citing inadequate forest cover in the state.

During a visit to the Martyrs' Memorial at Aranya Bhavan on National Forest Martyrs' Day, he paid floral tributes and highlighted the state's growing elephant and tiger populations.

However, Siddaramaiah stressed the need for modern technology to mitigate animal-human conflict and protect both human and animal welfare. He also announced an increase in compensation for forest martyrs' families, raising it from Rs 30 to 50 lakh.
