In a heart-wrenching incident in Tilua village, two children drowned while attempting to save a goat that had wandered into a river, police reported on Sunday.

The tragedy unfolded in the Kalan area on Saturday evening when a group of children were grazing their goats near the river. According to Superintendent of Police Rajesh S, six children entered the river to rescue the goat but started to drown in the deep water. Villagers responded to their cries for help, managing to save four of them. Sadly, Vandana (12) and Silesh (10) could not be rescued in time and died.

Superintendent Rajesh S confirmed that the police, with villagers' assistance, recovered the bodies from the river. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Another child who was rescued from the water is in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
