The target to plant 80 crore saplings by September 2024 was reached on Wednesday, backed by the concerted efforts of government agencies, village-level institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders, according to a statement from the Union Environment Ministry.

Launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' is a nationwide tree plantation campaign encouraging people to plant trees in honor of their mothers. The campaign aims to combat land degradation and restore degraded land areas, promoting environmental conservation across the nation.
