The BSES has launched a 'Tatkal' scheme offering same-day temporary electricity connections to boost festivities and cut pollution ahead of the festival season, the company announced on Thursday. Applications can be made via the BSES website, mobile app, WhatsApp, or customer care centres.

The 'Tatkal' scheme targets events like Durga Puja, Diwali melas, Ramlilas, and weddings, providing temporary connections within 24 hours. This not only enhances the festive spirit but also alleviates air pollution concerns, according to the BSES statement.

Addressing the traditional spike in pollution levels during the winter and festival months, the initiative aligns with the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) under the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). These temporary connections offer a sustainable alternative to diesel generators, reducing noise and air pollution effectively.
