Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, renowned for films like “Mrigayaa” and “Disco Dancer”, has been named the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest accolade in Indian cinema.
The announcement follows Chakraborty’s recent Padma Bhushan honor and was made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on X, celebrating the actor’s iconic contributions to cinema.
Chakraborty, an alumnus of Pune's Film and Television Institute of India, will be presented with the esteemed award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024.
