Aanand L Rai's Unfulfilled Vision: Salman Khan in 'Zero'

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai initially considered casting Salman Khan in the film 'Zero' during its scripting stage. However, conflicting schedules led to Shah Rukh Khan eventually taking the lead role. Rai remains eager to work with Salman in the future, praising him as a great actor and sensitive person.

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has revealed that superstar Salman Khan was his initial choice for the lead role in 'Zero' when the film was still in the scripting stage. However, both got busy with other projects, and the potential collaboration fell through.

Rai, known for hit films like 'Raanjhanaa' and 'Tanu Weds Manu', started focusing on 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns,' while Salman Khan took on another film. Shah Rukh Khan eventually starred in 'Zero', bringing the story of a vertically challenged man to life.

'I had briefly discussed the project with Salman after 'Raanjhanaa'. He showed interest, but I couldn't follow up due to my commitments. I still hope to work with Salman someday,' Rai told PTI during the IIFA Awards 2024. Despite not playing the lead, Salman made a cameo in the film's song 'Issaqbaazi' alongside Shah Rukh.
