Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has put forward a provocative idea to enhance public cleanliness: capturing and publishing photos of individuals spitting on roads after consuming pan masala. Gadkari made these remarks during a 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' event organized by the Nagpur civic body, recalling how he, too, once littered by disposing of chocolate wrappers out of his car.

Commemorating Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, Gadkari underscored the importance of maintaining cleanliness to protect the environment. He advocated for an environment free from single-use plastics and encouraged practices to convert waste into wealth through bioproduct initiatives.

Gadkari pointed out that Indians habitually dispose of litter improperly at home but exhibit better behavior overseas. He shared that he now takes chocolate wrappers home to discard them properly. Additionally, he suggested similar public shame tactics used by Mahatma Gandhi to enforce discipline, stressing the potential impact of such measures on public behavior.
