On New Year’s Day, a massive influx of devotees visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri, seeking blessings from the sibling deities – Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhdra, and Lord Jagannath, according to local officials.
Under the meticulous supervision of Puri SP Vineeth Agarwal, stringent security measured were in place to ensure the safety and smooth experience of all pilgrims. Seventy police platoons were strategically deployed both inside and outside the temple premises to support hassle-free movement and worship. Entrants were directed through the east side's Lion's Gate, while exits were managed through three alternative gates to accommodate the large crowds.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has been proactive in managing the massive gathering, opening the temple gates at 1:05 am to allow early darshan of the deities. Extensive surveillance, including CCTV cameras, was part of the effort to maintain order. Supplementary services, such as ambulances, are stationed to address potential medical emergencies, ensuring all aspects of the visitors' welfare are covered.
