Mahershala Ali’s 2nd Oscar for Green Book to create another record in 24 yrs

Mahershala Ali, the leading name between HBO's True Detective, won an Oscar at the 89^th Academy Awards in February 2017 for 2016 movie Moonlight, which made him the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar for acting.

Mahershala Ali already won Golden Globe Award for his Best Supporting Role (as Don Shirley) in the 2018 comedy-drama movie Green Book. Sources say that the 44-year old actor is currently on the out front to win the Oscar for the same role in Green Book. But one question still remains unanswered: Will he be rewarded by the academy so soon in just a span of two years?

If Mahershala Ali wins Oscar this time, he will be the first actor to win multiple Oscars in a sequel in the last 24 years. Gold Derby gives a list of those actors who had also won more than one Oscar in two years or less, but no one won this prestigious award in this order in between 1995 and 2019.

Tom Hanks won Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Philadelphia in 1993. In the next year, Tom Hanks again own another Oscar for his superhit movie Forrest Gump.

Similarly, Jason Robards, who is remembered for famous movies like Julius Caesar (1970), Once Upon a Time in the West (1968), Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) to name a few, won Oscar in just a span of one year. Jason Robards first won Oscar for All the President's Men in 1976. He again won Oscar for Julia in 1977.

If Mahershala Ali being at the out front wins the prestigious, he will again mark a record of winning second Oscar than any other actor in the last 24 years.
