A Hero's Farewell: Honoring Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi

The mortal remains of Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi, a valorous army man from the Punjab Regimental Centre, were respectfully consigned to flames in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh on Thursday. The 27-year-old soldier was one of the two defense personnel killed by a suspected terrorist's IED explosion near the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector earlier this week.

Amidst an air thick with grief, Captain Bakshi's body was cremated at the Khirgaon burning ghat. His grieving parents, Sardar Ajinder Singh Bakshi and Neelu Bakshi, along with a crowd of mourners, paid their final respects. His fiancé, an Army doctor stationed in Jammu, stood solemnly in the gathering, mourning the tragic loss. The town remembered him fondly, having celebrated his engagement just days before.

As tributes poured in, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, and other officials commemorated the fallen hero. Chief Minister Hemant Soren conveyed his condolences, underscoring the immense loss to the nation's defense force and recognizing Captain Bakshi's bravery in the face of danger.
