On Saturday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid respects at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine located atop the Trikuta hills in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed.

Dhankhar made a day-long visit to Katra, the pilgrimage's base camp, where he presided as the chief guest at the 10th convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Following the convocation, accompanied by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the Vice President visited the cave shrine in the afternoon, offering prayers, officials reported.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board's Chief Executive Officer, Anshul Garg, briefed Dhankhar on various developmental projects for pilgrims. The Vice President also took the opportunity to visit the Bhairon temple in the vicinity. Dhankhar's visit was initially scheduled for December 27 last year but was postponed due to state mourning for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
