Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has confirmed that Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is set to portray him in an upcoming biopic. Ganguly shared this information during a media interaction, revealing that while Rao is set for the titular role, date conflicts will delay the film's release by more than a year.

Ganguly, who played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, amassed 18,575 international runs. Known as the 'Prince of Kolkata,' he transitioned to administration, first leading the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and later becoming the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in October of the previous year. His tenure as captain included 21 Test victories and a World Cup final appearance in 2003. After retiring in 2008, Ganguly served on BCCI’s technical committee and as a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee alongside Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.

On the acting front, Rajkummar Rao will next appear in 'Bhool Chuk Maaf,' co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi. The film teaser shows their wedding plans askew with a time loop, garnished with a soundtrack nod to the 2009 film 'Love Aaj Kal.' Additionally, Rao stars in 'Maalik,' slated for a June 2025 release, under Kumar Taurani's production.
