The conviction of Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi, stemming from a 2005 parking assault case, has been upheld by a sessions court in Mumbai. However, the court has modified his one-year jail sentence, ordering his release on a bond of good behaviour.
The sessions court also mandated that the 59-year-old actor pay Rs 1.5 lakh as compensation to the assault victim, Pratik Pashine, under the Probation of Offenders Act. This decision follows Pancholi's appeal against the earlier judgment.
Initially, in November 2016, the Metropolitan Magistrate (Andheri) found Pancholi guilty under IPC section 325 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, sentencing him to a year in prison. Additional Sessions Judge D G Dhoble's ruling now means Pancholi will not serve this jail term, after partially allowing his appeal.
