Birdwatchers Document Record Avian Sightings in NCR's Big Bird Day

In the annual Big Bird Day, birdwatchers spotted and documented 243 bird species across NCR, surpassing last year's count. The event celebrated sightings of various species like the Oriental Pied Hornbill and Golden Plover, highlighting the region's rich avian diversity and successful urban biodiversity initiatives.

In an impressive display of avian diversity, the annual Big Bird Day across the National Capital Region (NCR) documented sightings of 243 bird species. This surpassed last year's count of 234, showcasing the vibrant birdlife in the area and the commitment of the birdwatching community.

The event highlighted significant species like the Oriental Pied Hornbill, Golden Plover, and others, confirming the stability of bird populations across NCR's diverse ecosystems. Notably, the Yamuna Biodiversity Park demonstrated successful habitat restoration with the sighting of Red-crested Pochards.

The Asola Wildlife Sanctuary continued its pivotal role in conserving bird populations, while Asita East Park emerged as a new urban birding hotspot, recording 82 species. Such efforts are encouraging indicators of positive trends in urban birding and conservation within the city.
