Mumbai Police have successfully arrested Ashish Bootiram Sayal, the man accused of stealing Rs 40 lakh from the office of renowned Bollywood music director Pritam Chakraborty. The theft occurred when Sayal, employed as an office boy for over nine years, reportedly absconded with the money bag under the guise of delivering it to Pritam's residence.
Police efforts led by Malad Police Station were initiated once Pritam's manager, Vineet Chheda, realized the theft, having temporarily left the money at the studio for work-related purposes. Discovering its absence, Chheda could neither contact Sayal, whose phone was switched off, nor find him at his residence.
Authorities launched a comprehensive investigation, meticulously examining footage from 150 to 200 CCTV cameras, enabling them to trace Sayal to Jammu and Kashmir. The police have managed to recover 95 percent of the stolen cash and are now focused on concluding the investigation to uncover further details surrounding the theft.
