Phil Collins, the iconic singer and drummer of the rock band Genesis, has reiterated that he will not return to playing drums or recording new music, citing severe health challenges. According to Variety, Collins, who has been battling health issues for years, has lost interest in creating music.
In recent comments, the musician elaborated on his condition, stating that he has no desire to enter a recording studio due to physical constraints. Previously, during Genesis tours, Collins had been performing while seated, with his son, Nic Collins, taking over the drumming duties.
Collins's health issues stem from a 2007 spinal injury resulting in significant nerve damage, leading to a condition known as drop foot, which hinders walking. He also suffered a head injury in 2017. His last musical release was a covers album in 2010, with his last original album released in 2002.
