Security has been intensively bolstered at Shri Kartik Mahadev temple in Khaggu Sarai ahead of the upcoming Mahashivratri celebrations, according to local officials. The historic temple, which recently emerged from a 46-year closure, is preparing for an influx of 'kanwariyas' or Lord Shiva devotees.

In anticipation of a heavy turnout, stringent security measures including CCTV installations and patrolling have been put in place. District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya identified the Kartik Mahadev, Verani Shiv, and Sadat Badi Shiv temples as likely crowd hotspots, with added deployments to manage the situation effectively.

An auxiliary control room has been established, medical teams are on standby, and police escorts will accompany pilgrims through designated points, according to Pensiya. This heightened vigilance comes after previous disruptions in the area, aiming to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance.
