Controversy Unfolds Over Dance Performance at Trimbakeshwar Temple

Actor Prajakta Mali's planned dance event at Nashik's Trimbakeshwar temple is under fire due to legal violations. The Archaeological Survey of India opposes the event citing overcrowding risks and non-compliance with the AMSAR Act. Former trustees and local authorities are also urging reconsideration of the cultural program.

The renowned Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik is at the center of a heated controversy over a scheduled dance performance by actor Prajakta Mali on Mahashivratri. The event has been met with opposition from the Archaeological Survey of India and several community members.

Though the temple authorities had organized the 'Shiv Stuti' dance performance to be held on the temple premises, concerns were raised over potential breaches of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act, 1958. The ASI has formally requested that the cultural event not proceed.

Local former trustee, Lalita Shinde, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Vasudev Desle have voiced strong opposition, fearing law and order issues owing to large crowd gatherings. The temple’s authorities are urged to reconsider, with legal and safety concerns being pointed out as potential setbacks to the event.
