In Kashmir, the Hindu community celebrated Mahashivaratri enthusiastically alongside a significant number of tourists. Local Hindus, forming a minority group in the valley, marked the occasion with early morning visits to the revered Shankaracharya temple atop Zabarwan hills, officials reported.

The festival drew dozens of tourists who joined the locals in observing Mahashivaratri's spiritual essence. Additionally, fervent prayers filled the Martand Sun temple in South Kashmir's Anantnag district as devotees gathered to honor Lord Shiva.

Extending festive greetings, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wished all a peaceful and prosperous Mahashivaratri. Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also sent warm wishes to the Kashmiri Pandit community, emphasizing the restoration of a harmonious bond between communities.
