President Droupadi Murmu underscored the significant contribution of saints in securing a respectable place for women in Indian society during a mass wedding ceremony in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district. She indicated that the nation is shifting from merely developing women to being led by them.

Addressing the gathering, Murmu expressed that contemporary spiritual leaders could be pivotal in fostering a self-reliant and harmonious India. She emphasized the importance of women’s education, health, and safety, and encouraged efforts towards their empowerment.

Praising historical figures like Guru Nanak and Sant Kabir Das, she noted their influence in eradicating social evils. At the event, sewing machines were distributed to women, reinforcing the drive for self-reliance. Additionally, the state government announced financial support for newlyweds as part of its welfare schemes.
