Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar is slated to enchant audiences once more with his role as a deity in the forthcoming Telugu film 'Kannappa', after his portrayal of Lord Shiva in 'OMG2'. Kumar expressed feeling "fortunate" to receive such rare opportunities to depict divine roles on-screen.

Reflecting on familial ties, Kumar shared an anecdote about his father's unexpected moment as Lord Shiva, highlighting the synchronicity that now similarly connects him to this revered role. The teaser for 'Kannappa' was unveiled at a glamorous event in Mumbai, attended by Kumar along with co-star Vishnu Manchu and director Mukesh Kumar Singh.

Manchu lauded Kumar's involvement, revealing initial hesitations from Kumar before finally joining the project. The film, promising a blend of traditional mythos with contemporary filmmaking, is scheduled to premiere globally on April 25, 2025. Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for the project, citing Manchu's belief in his portrayal of Lord Shiva as pivotal to his decision.
