Nabadwip Embraces Vegetarianism for Holi Festivities

The Nabadwip municipal chairman has requested townspeople to adopt a vegetarian diet during the Dol Utsav, coinciding with Holi. With numerous tourists and devotees visiting the town, maintaining its sanctity by abstaining from non-vegetarian foods is crucial. Local sellers have voluntarily agreed to shut down meat and fish shops.

The chairman of Nabadwip's municipal body in West Bengal has made a heartfelt appeal to the residents. He is urging them to adopt a vegetarian diet for three days during the famed Dol Utsav, also known as Holi.

Biman Kumar Saha, the chairman, emphasizes the global influx of tourists and devotees to Nabadwip, the birthplace of the revered Vaishnava saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. To preserve the town's sanctity during this spiritual period, he calls for the avoidance of non-vegetarian food sales and consumption.

Saha clarifies that this initiative is purely a request and not a mandate. Local meat and fish sellers have shown support by voluntarily deciding to close their businesses during the festival, ensuring a respectful atmosphere for all visitors.
