Controversy Erupts Over 'Malhar' Certification for Mutton Shops

A new platform named 'Malhar Certification' for mutton shops run exclusively by Hindu community members has sparked a debate among trustees of the Malhari Martand temple. While some support the initiative, others object to using the deity's name, arguing it contradicts the deity's vegetarian principles.

The announcement of the 'Malhar Certification' for mutton shops solely operated by Hindus in Maharashtra, launched by state minister Nitesh Rane, has triggered a split among trustees of the Malhari Martand temple.

Fierce disagreement centers around the use of the deity's name. Rajendra Khedekar, a trustee, argues that associating a vegetarian deity with a mutton certification is inappropriate and urges Rane to reconsider the nomenclature.

However, another trustee, Mangesh Ghone, supports the initiative and offers to honor Rane for his efforts. The certification aims to acknowledge 'jhatka' mutton shops, where meat is obtained by a single-blow slaughter method.
