The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to offer residents and tourists a novel experience with the introduction of hot-air balloon rides in the city. The rides will be available at the Yamuna Sports Complex and Commonwealth Games Village Sports Complex, officials announced on Thursday.
The project, which aims to stimulate tourism and generate revenue, has undergone thorough analysis resulting in the selection of these two venues for its initial launch. Private firms have been invited through a tender to manage and operate the rides, operating on a revenue-sharing model with the DDA.
These ballooning sites offer dynamic opportunities for advertising, with firms granted three-year licenses, extendable up to nine years. Rides will be planned to last up to four hours per day, though provisions exist for extended flying time. Ticket pricing is left to the operators but should remain accessible, as per DDA's guidelines.
