The annual Amarnath Yatra kicked off early Thursday, as the first group of pilgrims embarked from the Baltal and Nunwan base camps, making their way towards the sacred cave shrine situated in the Kashmir Himalayas.
Participants commenced their journey along the traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal routes. With spirits high, devotees chanted 'Bam Bam Bhole' and 'Har Har Mahadev,' signaling their spiritual enthusiasm as they trekked forward, undeterred by the arduous path ahead.
Security has been significantly enhanced for the 38-day pilgrimage, which concludes on August 9, following previous incidents of violence. Thousands of security personnel have been stationed, and aerial monitoring is active to ensure the pilgrims' safety as they undertake this revered journey.
