Amid a somber atmosphere, it has been confirmed that 48 individuals have tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in Russia's Far East. The head of the Amur region provided the grim update on Thursday.
The An-24 passenger plane mysteriously disappeared from radar as it journeyed from Blagoveshchensk, located on the Russian-Chinese border, to the town of Tynda. The aircraft's burning wreckage was eventually located by rescuers in a densely wooded hillside, south of its intended path.
In the wake of this horrific incident, Regional Governor Vasily Orlov stated that there were no survivors among the passengers and crew members. In an official declaration, he announced the observance of three days of mourning to honor the victims.
