Preserving the Sacred: Conservation Efforts for Tungnath Temple

Ajendra Ajay, former chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, urges the Chief Minister to conserve the ancient Tungnath temple. Located in Rudraprayag district, the temple is of historical and mythological significance. Despite a comprehensive conservation plan being prepared, it's yet to be implemented due to subsidence issues.

Ajendra Ajay, the former chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, has called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take urgent action for the conservation of the Tungnath temple. The temple, situated at an altitude of 12,073 feet in Rudraprayag district, is recognized for its historical and mythological significance.

The structural integrity of the centuries-old shrine has been compromised due to micro-subsidence, leading to water leakage issues. Ajendra Ajay, during his tenure, initiated a thorough study with the Archaeological Survey of India, the Geological Survey of India, and other agencies, all of which recommended conservation.

Although a detailed action plan for renovation was crafted, Ajay's term concluded before any work commenced. Tungnath temple, linked to the legendary Pandavas, stands as a symbol of India's heritage, demanding urgent attention to preserve its legacy.
