The Bengali film 'Kalponik' has hit a roadblock with the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its contentious content. Directed by Arka Mukhopadhyay, the film was showcased at the Kolkata International Film Festival but is currently entangled in certification issues.

The main plot involves the unearthing of an ancient temple underneath a place of worship, and depicts the complex relationship between media and political parties. Mukhopadhyay expressed disappointment over the suggested cuts, arguing that the audience is discerning enough to understand the film's message.

Following a review by the CBFC Revising Committee, which took place after the initial submission in June, concerns were raised about the appropriateness of certain scenes. The regional CBFC confirmed procedural delays, emphasizing that a June submission could not lead to a July release even in the absence of objections.
