Inaugurated by Union Culture and Tourism Minister, this event celebrates their inclusion in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, underlining their global importance and enduring impact.

In a bid to explore the everlasting impact of ancient Indian texts, scholars and cultural thinkers are converging in Delhi for a two-day symposium starting Wednesday. The gathering, aimed at reflecting on the Bhagavad Gita and Natyashastra, will underscore their relevance as 'living texts' in today's global dialogue.

The event, themed 'Timeless Texts and Universal Teachings: Inscription of Bhagavad Gita and Natyashastra in the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register,' will kick off at the Ambedkar International Centre. It will be spearheaded by Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and hosted by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

Highlighting a recent achievement, the symposium commemorates the addition of these foundational texts to UNESCO's Memory of the World International Register, a testament to their global significance. Both the Bhagavad Gita and Bharat Muni's Natyashastra, seminal in fields like performing arts, were part of UNESCO's documentary heritage collection update in April.
