Farewell to Shanawas: A Star Leaves the Stage

Shanawas, a celebrated Malayalam film and TV actor and son of legendary actor Prem Nazir, passed away following prolonged health issues. With a career spanning over 50 films, he returned to acting after a break in the film 'China Town' and was last seen in 'Janaganamana'.

The Malayalam film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Shanawas, who passed away at 71 due to prolonged health issues. He died on Monday night at a private hospital, family sources confirmed.

Shanawas, son of the renowned actor Prem Nazir, had a prolific career in the Malayalam film industry. He debuted in the Balachandra Menon-directed 'Premageethangal' and went on to appear in more than 50 films, including notable titles such as 'Mazhanilavu', 'Neelagiri', and 'Manithali'.

After a hiatus, Shanawas made a noteworthy return to cinema with the Mohanlal-starrer 'China Town'. His last appearance was in Prithviraj's blockbuster movie 'Janaganamana'. His death has elicited condolences from across the community, including from General Education Minister V Sivankutty.
