President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bihar's Gayaji district on Friday to engage in religious rituals at the Vishnupad temple for her ancestors' peace and salvation.
On her arrival at Gayaji airport, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and state minister Prem Kumar welcomed the President. Authorities organized extensive security measures for her visit. Her ceremonial activities include the 'pind daan' and 'jal tarpan' rituals, believed to ensure the souls' tranquility and liberation.
The Vishnupad temple, a popular destination during the annual 'pitru paksha', attracts numerous Hindu devotees who perform ancestral rites for their forebears' salvation.
