President Droupadi Murmu, on Friday, engaged in the revered ritual of 'pind daan' at the Vishnupad temple in Gayaji, Bihar, a ceremony aimed at attaining salvation for her ancestors' souls.

The president undertook the 'pind daan' and 'jal tarpan' on the banks of the Falgu river, indicating her dedication to the spiritual welfare of her forebears. Shambhu Lal Vitthal, the working president of the Vishnupad temple trust, emphasized the ritual's significance for ancestral peace and salvation.

Throughout 'pitru paksha', a significant number of Hindu devotees visit the temple to partake in similar rituals. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and state minister Prem Kumar formally welcomed President Murmu at Gayaji airport as security measures were heightened for her visit.
