In an ambitious move towards elevating Sabarimala as a premier pilgrimage hub, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled plans worth over Rs 1,000 crore aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience. Announced at the Global Ayyappa Sangam, these initiatives are part of a comprehensive master plan to develop the route and amenities.
Vijayan asserted that the development projects seek not only to ease pilgrimage logistics but also to spotlight Sabarimala's unique cultural and spiritual ethos. Addressing criticisms from political adversaries, Vijayan cited the Bhagavad Gita, highlighting the universal appeal and secular nature of Sabarimala, attracting devotees of all faiths.
Amidst mounting scrutiny on temple administration, Vijayan defended the state's involvement, noting significant governmental investments in Devaswom Boards. With substantial funding earmarked for modernization until 2025, the CM dismissed allegations of financial mismanagement as baseless propaganda, emphasizing the vision to position Sabarimala on the global pilgrimage map.
