President Droupadi Murmu paid a historic visit to the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala, becoming the first female head of state to offer prayers at the revered site. Arriving at Pamba with her entourage, she engaged in traditional devotions, including washing her feet in the Pampa river and taking part in rituals at nearby shrines.

During her visit, strict restrictions were placed on other devotees to facilitate her pilgrimage. Accompanied by her ADC, PSO, and family, she participated in the symbolic 'irumudikkettu' ritual, guided by temple priests. She climbed the sacred 18 steps at Sannidhanam and performed 'darshan' of Lord Ayyappa, marking a notable moment in the temple's history.

Continuing her Kerala tour, President Murmu participated in several cultural ceremonies and high-profile events, including unveiling a statue of former President K R Narayanan and attending various jubilees and centenary celebrations. Her tour highlighted both her official duties and a deep engagement with cultural heritage.
