On Friday, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla highlighted the significance of National Unity Day as an enduring legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's courage and foresight in unifying over 500 princely states into one cohesive Republic.
Speaking at the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observance at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Bhalla commended Patel's visionary leadership that laid the foundation of a united and sovereign India. He reflected on the Statue of Unity as a lasting tribute to Patel's remarkable statesmanship and a symbol of India's collective strength and resilience.
The Governor called on Manipur's citizens to embrace unity, emphasizing that the state's diversity is a strength shown through its cultural harmony and shared traditions. He praised programs like the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission and women empowerment schemes for fostering inclusive growth, urging continuous collaboration for mutual respect and shared purpose.
